Namaste,
My vision is simply 'bringing the gifts of yoga to our iwi, our community'
When I first began to practice, I was locked in my own body. With my right leg broken at age 4 & my left leg severely at age 19, there were plenty of internal barriers in my body to move through. My hips refused to open, my spine was out of alignment and I couldn’t touch my toes or sit cross-legged.
So, Yoga was purely physical exercise for me until I learnt to meditate, at a Buddhist centre in India. These ten days were the hardest & most rewarding of my life. Following this experience, going to the yoga studio & getting onto the mat became much more meaningful as it created a pathway back to the positive spiritual space I discovered within myself in those deep days of meditation. Eventually my body began to unfold as I let go of all my junk.
And of course, that’s what it’s all about. Letting go of your junk. Your childhood traumas; adult traumas; afflictions; addictions; unhealthy patterns; emotional blocks; dead weight. I've struggled with addiction and depression & found in Yoga (including meditation) a practice which allowed me to understand and slowly clear my trapped trauma, find emotional peace and begin to thrive.
Fast forward six years. I’ve been teaching, sharing, learning, attending courses, practicing, lecturing & gathering as much knowledge as I can about this beautiful science so that I can share it with everyone.
All of the classes I teach follow the Vinyasa Krama method & incorporate asana; pranayama & kriya. I believe a complete practice of yoga calls forth movement through your body, your breath & your mind, to strip off the unnecessary layers and reveal things as they really are.

Amazing Amy!
I was well over 50years old when I walked into a yoga studio for the first time. So lucky to get a teacher as kind, helpful, understanding, reassuring and patient as Amy . . . long story short: thanks to Amy I'm addicted to yoga. So wish I could still join her classes if only NZL would be closer to my place

Amy is an intelligent, dedicated student of life, and teaching yoga is just one string to her bow. The time I've spent with Amy practising yoga and meditation through nidra yoga has been far-reaching in it's usefulness to me in everyday life. I always learn something new or come away with a different angle on something familiar. Amy has an integrity that is inspiring to be around and I cant wait to spend more time learning with this wise wahine! RENEE DANIELLE, Owner, Prana Massage Studio |
When I did 3 weeks in a row of Koha Yoga I felt so so great, vibrant, full of energy at the same time as being relaxed...Trying to arrange my life so I can go twice a week every week! Fully recommend these classes to everyone whether you're a beginner or old timer. I have never felt so good after a yoga class and the in depth holistic insight Amy gives into the ancient origins and purpose of yoga really explains the goodness! SOPHIE ELWORTHY, Arts Facilitator |
